Uncloudy Day To Be Released on Bike Tour!

Trent Wagler & Jay Lapp release a new recording, Uncloudy Day, on May 5th to correspond with their SpokeSongs Tour through Michigan. The recording was done around one microphone and includes favorite and influential traditional songs that Trent and Jay have collected throughout the years. Stamped with Steel Wheel style, the songs play as a late night slow jam and celebrate traditional songs as they embark on this Spring’s tour on traditional transportation. I must confess, when I first saw the title "Swing Low", my very first thought was "Goodness, hasn't this song been recorded enough already?" Apparently not! That was one of the very best renditions I've ever heard of it. Gotta LOVE the pure, raw, honest recording of the moment. GREAT work! Love it!

I was at my aunt's funeral the other day and at the end of the service at the graveside they played Red Wing. I have heard my grandmother, my aunt, and one of my uncles hammer this tune out many times on the piano over the years and I have always loved the melody. But when I heard The Steel Wheels rendition with their newly written lyrics, the song just went all through me and straight to my soul. This is a hauntingly beautiful song, at least to me. I simply can't stop listening to it.
