This album is a live monorecording of two great Americana Musicians playing with some of their favorite old songs. An open theatre provided a great space, and the two men sat down and played the songs as they pleased. This is a no frills recording. And it’s better off for it.

Timbered Choir EP is a unique collection of songs written by Trent Wagler for, What Would Lloyd Do?, an original play co-written by Ted Swartz and Trent Wagler.

Fans of Wagler’s music already know his powerful writing and singing voice from his earlier albums (Adrienna Valentine (2008), Blue Heaven (2006), Journal of a Barefoot Soldier (2005)). Timbered Choir gives Wagler the chance to branch out musically, from a rockin’ gospel choir sound, to Trent’s debut on a eery modal banjo song (Someday I Will Believe), and a completely a capella song with a deep bluesy edge.

Americana singer-songwriter Trent Wagler and Indiana-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Jay Lapp announce the release of a new album of neo-traditional old-time and original roots music, entitled Adrienna Valentine. This collection of 14 addictive, surprising, satisfying songs is the third in Wagler’s growing catalog of albums, which includes Journal of a Barefoot Soldier (2005) and Blue Heaven (2006), all recorded by Lapp’s Dojo Records.

Blue Heaven is the original Steel Wheels recording. Recorded in 2006 at an historic inn in Warm Springs, VA, The Steel Wheels created a winning combination of the traditional and original in Blue Heaven. From the rollicking original, Millers Hill and upbeat Steel Wheels branded version of Shady Grove, to the sad title track, this album continues to be a fan favorite 4 years later.

Trent’s original recordings with Jay Lapp in Jay’s Indiana Studio (2005). The story goes that Jay invited Trent up for a session. Trent drove from Virginia and stayed on Jay’s couch for 4 days while they recorded the 10 original tracks that would become the start of a musical partnership that continues to blossom.
